Q. Who are Lindsay Porter and Porter Publishing?
A. I'm an author - I'm told I'm the UK's top-selling motoring author - and I concentrate on how-to manuals. Porter Publishing publishes many of my books and those written and co-written by many other experts.
We sometimes use the phrase 'Making It Easy' because that's what we're aiming to do for our readers.The videos and DVDs are the part you look forward to after a hard day in the workshop. Put your feet
up, open a beer and enjoy a slip back into motorsport and classic car history. Much of our stuff is archive - it was filmed when the cars and 'bikes were new - so you really do feel like you've been on
a time machine.
Q? What are you best at?
A. Helping people to see how to do stuff for themselves. Put that into a car manual or classic car restoration manual and you've got a book that's helpful because it's easy to use.
Q. Where did you start?
A. I did part of an engineering apprenticeship then turned to school teaching. I had a really wonderful time teaching English, Metalwork - but most of all, kids! - for about 12 years. I wrote my first
book for Haynes Publishing and several more after it. Then, when that door closed, I made my own door before opening it on Porter Publishing.
Q. Where do you go from here.
A. That's 'making it easy'! We'll use the power of the internet to reach and assist even more enthusiasts and car owners with our great range of manuals, DVDs, magazine article archive and much more besides.
